For SaleA young Ottawa brand built fast, passed on by choice, not by chance — two locations, Ottawa, Ontario
A note from ownership · Ottawa
If you're reading this, you're standing at the door of two thriving, growth-focused Ottawa businesses — quietly changing hands, to the right people.
We built something Ottawa loves. We're choosing who takes it forward.
Taksim Sweets & Bakes is not a listing on the open market. It's a confidential, invitation-only sale process for the right person or team to continue two established Ottawa locations — reviewed personally, one application at a time.
Taksim started as a small idea about bringing real Turkish baklava, simit and coffee to Ottawa — Kanata first, then a second counter on Bank Street. In under two years it became a name Ottawa recognises. Now I'm being called elsewhere: my family's home is a small corner of Crimea that the war has reached, and reuniting with them means a road through Europe, then Türkiye — where I'll need to stay a while and help them build a new life from nothing.
I can't run two Ottawa stores from that distance the way they deserve to be run. And I'm not interested in handing them to just anyone. I'm looking for a small number of serious, capable people — someone who will keep the quality, keep the team, and keep building what we started. If that's you, I'd like to hear from you.
— Muzinie, Taksim Sweets & Bakes
Every application is reviewed personally. We are choosing who we speak with — not the other way around.
The opportunity
Two addresses most operators wait years for
Both sites are trading, fully fitted and licensed for food service today — leasehold improvements, commercial kitchen and display equipment already in. Whoever takes this on inherits working premises, not a construction project, in two catchments that are genuinely difficult to get into from a standing start.
Location A
Kanata — Hazeldean Road
442 Hazeldean Road, Unit 6, Ottawa, ON
Unit size
≈1,354 sq ft — full café seating room, service counter, display cases and back-of-house
Setting
Visible commercial plaza with dedicated customer parking, on a four-lane arterial
Road exposure
Hazeldean Road (Ottawa Road 36) carries an average of roughly 20,000 vehicles a day and was widened to four lanes in 2012 to absorb Stittsville's growth
Catchment
Kanata South, Katimavik-Hazeldean, Glen Cairn, Bridlewood and Stittsville — ≈148,000 residents across the Kanata North, Kanata South and Stittsville wards
Daytime demand
Kanata's technology employment cluster, plus Hazeldean Mall and the Eagleson retail node nearby
Format
Sit-in café with events and large-group capacity — the only one of the two sites with room to host
442 Hazeldean Road, Unit 6 — seating room and service counter
Location B
Centretown — Bank Street
477 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON
Unit size
≈722 sq ft — efficient counter-and-display format with a small seating area
Setting
Direct Bank Street frontage with full-height glazing and high pedestrian visibility
Catchment
Centretown holds 25,687 residents at ≈12,200 people per km² (2021 Census) — among the densest residential catchments in the city, on foot at the door
Corridor
The Bank Street BIA, founded in 1977, is the oldest business improvement area in Ottawa; much of the surrounding core sits within the Centretown Heritage Conservation District
Public investment
The City's three-year Centretown Street Safety and Revitalization Action Plan follows the Street Seats / "Uncommon Spaces" pilot run with the Centretown BIA and Bloomberg Philanthropies — wider sidewalks, outdoor seating and programmed public space along this corridor
Planning direction
The Central and East Downtown Core Secondary Plan targets continued residential intensification in Centretown, adding resident demand to the corridor
477 Bank Street — counter, display and street-front seating
≈20,000
vehicles a day on Hazeldean Road (annual average)
12,200/km²

What comes with it
An established brand, not just two leases
01Brand identity and artwork. The Taksim name, wordmark, colour system and the commissioned İstiklal tram artwork that anchors the interior of both stores — a recognisable design language rather than a generic café fit-out.
02Independent press coverage. The Kanata location was profiled by the Ottawa Citizen in October 2025 — food writer Peter Hum's feature on its Turkish desserts, phyllo pastries and full Turkish breakfast service was then picked up and syndicated nationally by Yahoo News Canada, putting Taksim in front of readers well beyond Ottawa. A CTV Morning Live Ottawa segment is also in the works.
03A genuine, existing following. A 4.7-star Google rating across roughly 290 reviews, and an Instagram audience approaching 4,700 — a real community built from two storefronts, not a page bought or built from zero.
04Search and map visibility. Established Google Business Profiles and organic visibility for Turkish bakery, baklava and Turkish dessert searches in Ottawa, plus regular coverage on independent local food sites such as OttawaEats.
05Product programme and recipes. Baklava and syrup pastries, savoury phyllo and poğaça lines, simit, Turkish breakfast service, Turkish coffee and speciality drinks — a menu already proven in this market.
06Equipment and leasehold improvements. Commercial kitchen, display and refrigeration equipment, millwork, lighting and interior build-out already installed at both sites.
07Two-site operating structure. A production-capable café in Kanata and a compact high-footfall retail counter downtown — a hub-and-satellite structure most operators spend years building.
This is a brand Ottawa noticed fast — real press, a real following, and two locations built in under two years.Trade marks, recipes, brand assets and social accounts included in the transaction are confirmed in the Buyer Information Package after an NDA.
Room to grow
What the next owner could build that we haven't yet
These are avenues we've identified but never had the bandwidth to develop fully while running both stores day to day. They're opportunities for a buyer to assess on their own merits, not forecasts, and no financial outcome is represented.
01Corporate and government catering. Kanata's technology campuses and Centretown's government and professional offices both order breakfast and dessert platters — a channel that runs on existing production capacity.
02Wholesale supply. Baklava, phyllo and pastry lines supplied to grocers, restaurants and independent cafés across the region.
03Turkish breakfast and weekend service. The Kanata seating room supports a full weekend breakfast programme and larger table bookings.
04Evening dessert trade downtown. Bank Street carries evening and weekend pedestrian traffic; extended hours target the after-dinner dessert and coffee occasion.
05Delivery, pre-order and occasion cakes. Delivery platforms, online pre-order and event, wedding and religious-holiday orders.
06Events and private bookings. The Kanata room can be programmed for private events, tastings and community bookings outside peak café hours.
07A third location or franchise. The brand system, artwork and product programme are built to be repeated — the two existing sites function as proof of concept in both a suburban and an urban format.
